Mandevilla (Dipladenia) - Abundantly Flowering Tropical Climber
The Mandevilla, also known as Dipladenia, is a tropical climbing plant with spectacular trumpet-shaped flowers, available in red, pink, white or yellow.
It is ideal for a sunny spot on a balcony, terrace or in a greenhouse.
In summer, Mandevilla needs plenty of sun and regular watering. This plant is not hardy and must be overwintered indoors in a bright, frost-free location (around 10 to 15 °C). It can be grown as a climbing plant or a trailing plant and offers generous flowering from summer until the first frosts.
🌿 Care
☀️ Exposure: Full sun, preferably sheltered from the wind.
💧 Watering: Regular watering, especially in hot weather. On average once a week, or every two days during periods of high heat. Make sure to use a pot with drainage holes to prevent root rot.
🌸 Fertilizer: Apply a fertilizer for flowering plants regularly during the flowering period to promote optimal growth and flowering.
🪴 Support: Install a stake, trellis or wires to allow the plant to climb. Stems can reach up to 2 meters in length.
❄️ Wintering
Non-hardy plant: Often grown as an annual.
Indoor wintering: Place the plant in a bright, frost-free location, such as a conservatory or a bright room, at a temperature of 10 to 15 °C.
Winter watering: Significantly reduce watering to prevent root rot.
